Brian Freedman: Welcome to ClassicWines TV brought to you by classicwines.com, I am Brian Freedman. Now you are probably wondering, why I am standing in front of a map? Well that is because we are we going to discuss the issues involved with shipping wine from one place to another.
Now buying wine online has become incredibly popular and really, really affordable in recent years. Now I know what you are thinking here. It is very easy to do to the local wine shop, pick up a bottle or two, and get on with your life. The truth though is there are some huge advantages to buying online.
One of the advantages of buying wine online, one of the many advantages actually is that you really have access not only to a huge variety of wines, but you also have access to the kind of price comparison tools that really aren't even relevant when you are buying it in the local wine shop. So you will not only end up spending less money but you will end up understanding what you should spend before you even make your purchase.
Another big advantage of buying online is that you will tend to be able to find products that you would not be able to find next to each other in a normal wine shop. Also, when you do buy online, if you are already paying small, small shipping fee it really does make sense to fill out a six-pack to fill out a case of wine and, you know, one of the reasons you do want to do this is because it is a great opportunity to taste wines, to experience bottles you otherwise wouldn't have gravitated towards in the first place.
So, for example, we have this case here. And this is a great example of the kind of thing that you can put together on ClassicWines. You have everything from Big House Red, which is this crazy California blend of everything from Sangiovese, Montepulciano, to Syrah, and a million other things thrown in, what else? We have the Louis Jadot Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2005.
Again, these are two wines that I have never found next to each other in my shopping cart when I am at the local wine shop. But if you are already online, you are already making a big purchase fill out that case. It is one of the best ways to expand your tasting horizons and expose yourself to the kinds of wines, to the kinds of bottlings that may be otherwise you would not have before.
The bottom line is this; do not be afraid to shop online since you are buying it anyhow and having it shipped to you, take advantage of the opportunity to really branch out from what you normally buy, try things that you otherwise would not have.
We say it all the time here on ClassicWines TV and on the ClassicWines Minute, but the truth is there's more great wine available right now in America at reasonable, if not, downright inexpensive prices than there ever has been before. This is the time to taste it, there is no reason not to.
From all of us here at classicwines.com, I am Brian Freedman, thanks for joining us. Cheers!
